This is just some general info I've learnt over the years from research and experience. The aim is help others be able to have a crack themselves with some good information. Will update this as much as I can and am more than happy to have people message to correct or add info this page.
General info
General info
Red wire = Power/Positive
Black Wire = Ground/Negative
Volts x Amps = Watts
Watts / Volts = Amps
Battery resting volts = 12.6v-12.8v and 13.6v for Lithium batteries
Rough Wire size and their Amperage Ratings.
Please double check while buying to confirm.
2.5mm - 5 Amp 8 B&S/AWG - 100 Amp
3mm - 10 Amp 6 B&S/AWG - 140 Amp
4mm - 15 Amp 4 B&S/AWG - 185 Amp
5mm - 25 Amp 2 B&S/AWG - 225 Amp
6mm - 50 Amp
Before even thinking about starting the build of your 12v system. There's a few basic things you should know.
What do you want/need to run off your system. Whether this is just camp lights, or a big inverter. Find out the amp usage of what you want to use.
Will you be running solar? Yes should be your only answer.
